CuteFTP sucks badly.

Don’t download it. In particular, don’t pay for it. My client paid $40 to them for it just to get some proper support from them, and even then, all they said was “It’s a fault in the configuration of the server you’re connecting to. Ask the server’s administrator to fix it.”, when the “fault” was that my server uses Unicode instead of ISO-Latin-1 for file name encodings.
